MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office has identified two siblings killed in a crash on Monday night, February 22nd near 91st and Good Hope Road.

The victims have been identified as 22-year-old Lewon Pickens and 17-year-old Charee Sutton -- brother and sister.

Charee Sutton was a senior at Vincent High School.

The crash happened around 10:35 p.m.

According to witnesses, a 1994 Pontiac was headed northbound on 91st — “racing” what was described as a black Camaro.

22-year-old Pickens, the driver of the Pontiac, lost control, left the roadway and struck a tree.

Pickens, and his passenger and sister,  17-year-old Sutton died at the scene, despite life-saving efforts of first responders.

Their mother, Tonya Sutton, will now bury her two children.

"It's hard when you have a double burial. A little bit in disbelief, a little bit in shock -- in the process of trying to take it all in," Tonya Sutton said.

The medical examiner has ruled the preliminary manner of death for Pickens and Sutton as accidental.

The report indicates the vehicle was traveling at approximately 75 miles-per-hour on 91st Street prior to the crash. According to the report, the amount of force at which the vehicle struck the tree caused the vehicle to "rip in half at the front end."

Tire impact  marks were noted on the roadway 300 feet south of where the vehicle ended up. Officials determined the vehicle lost control at that point.

Tonya Sutton

The Pontiac sustained a "catastrophic amount of damage."

According to the report, the mother of Sutton and Pickens said Sutton worked at the Walgreens store at 91st and Good Hope, and she was picked up from there by her brother, Pickens on Monday night. The mother said it wasn't clear why the two turned around and traveled back north on 91st at a high rate of speed.

"I can`t believe what had happened. My son had to have been a little bit intoxicated. He picked up his sister and she got into that car. She got off of work at 10:30. As soon as she got in the car, he had to start speeding, lost control of his car and hit a tree," Tonya Sutton said.

Tonya Sutton told FOX6 News she had never known her son to "race" another vehicle before.

The family is in the process of making funeral arrangements for Charee and Lewon as police continue to investigate this crash.

MILWAUKEE -- Police say witnesses have indicated the driver of a white pickup truck sped up "to beat the light" prior to hitting a man near 16th and National. The 35-year-old man later died at the hospital. The driver who hit him never stopped after the crash -- and police are now looking for that driver.

Milwaukee police have released two surveillance photos showing the striking white truck.

Those who live and work near the intersection where the crash happened told FOX6 News they weren't surprised to hear of the crash. They say the intersection is a dangerous one.

There was a small, yet growing memorial at the scene on Tuesday, February 23rd for the man who was struck by a newer model white pickup truck.

This, as some say the intersection where it happened has been a concern for awhile.

"I wasn`t even shocked at all," Benita Bujanowski said.

"I've had people cut in front of me. I've had people practically take my buns off and they don`t care. They don`t care," a pedestrian said.

"It's gotten me so nervous to the point where certain times -- 4:00, 5:00 I will not walk down the street," Bujanowski said.

Police say the 35-year-old man who died after he was hit on Monday night was in the crosswalk, but he was crossing against a "no walk" sign.

"It's like (these drivers are) in such a hurry they don`t want to wait. They don`t want to stop," Bujanowski said.

"It sends shivers up the spine to see people getting hit and people just not caring," Rudy Torres said.

Torres couldn't help but stop when he saw the memorial for the man at the scene on Tuesday.

In 2008, Torres himself was the victim of a hit-and-run crash.

"I was left to die in the street," Torres said.

So now, he says he's always cautious -- but especially when he's near 16th and National.

"This is an ongoing affair up in here," Torres said.

Police continue to look for the white pickup truck and its driver. The truck is described as a newer model white pickup truck with a black rack holding ladders.

BROWN DEER -- A rollover crash Thursday night, February 25th in Brown Deer left one child dead and two others injured.

The Milwaukee mother is now mourning the death of her three-year-old child, identified by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office as R'moni Little-Smith, while she's at her other child's side who is hospitalized.

FOX6 News spoke with her briefly, and she says it's all just too much to deal with. Not only about her children, but that her boyfriend is allegedly responsible for the fatal crash.

"All of a sudden I hear this really loud bang kind of noise then there is this car rolling like three or four times. I was like I really can't believe this is happening," said Pastor Angela Davis, witnessed crash.

Pastor Angela Davis saw the heart-wrenching scene near the intersection of N. Sherman Boulevard and N. Teutonia Avenue, while on her way home from bible study.

"I saw people down in that kind of ditch and a lot of paramedics started to come," said Davis.

Brown Deer police and the North Shore Fire and Rescue crews were called to the crash around 9:30 p.m. Thursday night.

"We found a black Pontiac on its side with three occupants outside the vehicle," said Brad Caddock, Brown Deer Police Department.

The 35-year-old driver was on the side of the road along with two young children who were ejected from the car.

"The children were not restrained in the car. Immediately, aid was rendered to them and they were transported to the hospital," said Caddock.

But the three-year-old girl involved didn't make it long after. She died at the hospital from a blunt force head injury.

"That's tragic for the families," said Beverly Lieven, concerned resident.

It appears the driver lost control.

"We believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash," said Caddock.

And rolled the car after supposedly speeding north on Sherman approximately 90-100 miles-per-hour.

"People come down the hill and don't expect the job in the street," said Lieven.

The condition of the driver and the other child hurt in the crash has not been released.

Meanwhile police continue to investigate and are looking to present charges to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office sometime next week.

MILWAUKEE COUNTY — 46-year-old Charles Jones, charged in connection a fatal crash that occurred on U.S. 45 southbound near Watertown Plank Road back in 2015 has reached a plea deal in the case against him.

Charles Jones

Charles Jones

Jones on Monday, February 29th, 2016 pleaded guilty to one count of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle and one count of reckless driving causing great bodily harm.

Jones will be sentenced on April 7th, 2016.

The crash happened on September 30th, 2015 just before 2:30 p.m.

54-year-old Dennis Meyer of Milwaukee was pronounced dead at the scene. He was ejected from his pickup truck when the pickup truck rolled over. His passenger, a 27-year-old man, was also ejected. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Pickup truck driven by Dennis Meyer

Pickup truck driven by Dennis Meyer

Milwaukee County Sheriff’s officials said Jones was driving a car — changing lanes and passing in traffic recklessly when his vehicle lost control. The car went across all lanes of traffic and struck the pickup truck.

Jones told officials he was on his way to a doctor’s appointment. He was not impaired.

Jones now faces two felony charges: homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle and reckless driving (causing great bodily harm).

When deputies arrived on scene, they found Dennis Meyer lying on the freeway. A Good Samaritan, who was a nurse, was at his side, trying to render aid. His passenger was also lying on the freeway — complaining of hip pain.

Vehicle driven by Charles Jones

Vehicle driven by Charles Jones

Jones was found in his vehicle — complaining of back pain.

Investigators spoke with Meyer’s passenger, who reported the two had left work in Menomonee Falls. Meyer’s passenger said he started to fall asleep shortly after they got on the freeway. He said his eyes began to close as the crash occurred. He woke up when Meyer yelled — and the passenger said he then realized their truck was going sideways, and that it then began to roll. The passenger said he knew they were being ejected from the vehicle — but he didn’t know what window he went out of. His injuries consisted of a blow to the back of his head, a dislocated right foot and injuries and skin loss to his right foot.

An autopsy was performed on Meyer, and the Medical Examiner’s Office determined he died as a result of multiple blunt force injuries.

Investigators spoke with witnesses, including a man who said Jones’ vehicle was “bobbing and weaving — trying to pass everyone.” He said he saw another vehicle nearly collide with Jones’ vehicle before observing Jones’ vehicle begin to lose control. Jones’ vehicle started to skid and fish-tail. The witness said it did not appear Jones used his turn signal when switching lanes, and at one point he crossed over to the left lane and then “snapped back” to the right — hitting the pickup truck Meyer was driving. The pickup truck skidded and then rolled. The witness observed the men ejected from the truck, and he saw Meyer’s passenger crawling in the grass. Meyer was lying in the street.

An FBI Special Agent told investigators he was driving on U.S. 45 southbound when he observed Jones’ vehicle speeding — coming up on his right. He also saw Jones’ vehicle nearly collide with another vehicle. The agent told officials he saw Jones’ vehicle hit the pickup truck, and saw the pickup truck roll. Upon witnessing the crash, the agent told officials he activated his lights and sirens and went to check on Jones. He was found to be conscious and not bleeding. The agent then went to check on Meyer and his passenger. Meyer’s passenger was found sitting on the side of the road with injuries. The agent began performing CPR on Meyer but he eventually died.

Several witnesses gave descriptions of Jones’ driving prior to the crash — with one witness saying Jones was “driving like an idiot.” Some of them said Jones was going way too fast, according to the complaint.

A Wisconsin State Patrol trooper determined Jones was driving at speeds of 76 or 77 miles-per-hour at the time of the crash.

The posted speed limit is 55 miles-per-hour on U.S. 45 southbound.

Jones’ blood was tested, and it tested positive for two medications. He was found to have prescriptions for both of them.

The criminal complaint references a ticket Jones received in 2013 on Highway 145 South at or near N. 91st Street. Jones received a citation for speeding — going 86 miles-per-hour in a 55 mile-per-hour zone.

U.S. 45 southbound had to be closed for more than five hours while deputies reversed traffic off the freeway, cleared the scene and conducted the investigation into this incident.

MILWAUKEE COUNTY — Charges have now been filed against 35-year-old Marcus Lee in connection with a crash that killed a three-year-old girl, and left a four-year-old boy hurt.

Marcus Lee

Marcus Lee

Lee is facing one count of knowingly operating a motor vehicle while suspended, causing death.

He made his initial appearance in court on Tuesday, March 1st, and it was determined he will undergo a competency examination. Lee was wearing a protective vest, and wiped several tears from his eyes during his court appearance.

“Based on my interactions with him and my discussions, I`m going to raise competency at this point,” Lee’s attorney said.

The crash happened on Thursday, February 25th near Sherman and Teutonia in Brown Deer around 9:30 p.m.

Three-year-old R’moni Little-Smith died at the hospital as a result of injuries suffered in the crash.

Upon arrival at the scene, Brown Deer police officers found Lee’s vehicle tipped onto the driver’s side. Three-year-old R’moni Little-Smith, Lee and a four-year-old boy were found in a grassy area near the vehicle. Little-Smith was lying on her back, unresponsive. The four-year-old boy was being tended to by a woman.

Little-Smith was later pronounced dead at the hospital, as a result of blunt force head trauma. According to the complaint, the four-year-old boy suffered a concussion and abrasions on his head.

Police made contact with Lee, who told officers he was driving the vehicle prior to the crash, and the two children were in the backseat — not wearing seat belts, according to the complaint.

Lee told police the vehicle struck the curb and flipped over. He said he saw the two children thrown from the vehicle.

The complaint indicates Lee made “various statements” about using a cell phone while driving.

The chaplain for the Brown Deer Police Department happened to witness the crash. According to the complaint, he stated that Lee’s vehicle was traveling at approximately 80 miles-per-hour and “driving erratically” prior to the crash.

Fatal crash near Sherman & Teutonia in Brown Deer

Another witness estimated Lee’s vehicle was traveling at 80-90 miles-per-hour prior to the crash.

Police were able to obtain surveillance video from an automotive shop nearby — which showed Lee’s vehicle traveling on Sherman Boulevard at a high rate of speed. The video showed Lee’s vehicle lose control as it passed through the intersection at Bradley Road. The vehicle then struck the curb on the west side of Sherman.

The complaint indicates while Lee was being transported to the hospital, officials noted a strong odor of alcohol coming from Lee’s breath. According to the complaint, Lee told officials he had smoked marijuana two to three hours prior to the crash.

Lee told investigators his driver’s license was suspended, the complaint says.

A blood sample was taken from Lee and sent to the Wisconsin Crime Laboratory for analysis, and he was arrested.

According to the complaint, when Lee was taken into custody, officials found a receipt on his person, indicating the vehicle Lee was driving had been purchased on the date of the crash — February 25th, by Lee’s girlfriend and the mother of the three-year-old and four-year-old children who were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. The receipt had a message on it, reading: “Warning! This vehicle cannot be legally operated on Wisconsin highways and may not be safe.”

One day after the crash, Lee was interviewed by investigators. According to the complaint, Lee said he had consumed “half a bottle of liquor” and “two beers” on February 25th, and he had also smoked marijuana at various points during the day.

Lee indicated his girlfriend had purchased the vehicle on Thursday morning. Lee said he suspected a tie rod needed to be fixed because his girlfriend had mentioned that at high speeds, the steering wheel started to shake.

The complaint says Lee told officials he picked up the two children from daycare around 8:30 p.m., and said the children were not wearing seat belts, nor where they secured in child safety seats.

Lee said he was on the way to pick up his girlfriend, the children’s mother, when the crash happened.

Lee estimated he was driving at approximately 45 miles-per-hour.

Lee said the car started to slide, and struck a curb on Sherman. Lee said after the car rolled, he crawled out through the sunroof.

According to the complaint, Lee said he “knew (Little-Smith) was dead” after the crash, and he said he “should have been more of an adult and put their seat belts on.”

The complaint makes reference to the fact that Lee’s vehicle operating privileges were suspended on February 5th, 2014 for failing to pay a fine.

BROWN DEER -- FOX6 News has obtained surveillance video showing the moments before a fatal crash in Brown Deer that happened on Thursday night, February 25th. A three-year-old girl died at the hospital after the crash at Sherman and Teutonia. A four-year-old boy was hurt. 35-year-old Marcus Lee is criminally charged in connection with the crash.

Witnesses claim the vehicle Lee was driving reached speeds of 80 to 90 miles-per-hour.

The surveillance video captured by a camera at Farkas Automotive shows Lee allegedly speeding northbound on Sherman through the intersection with Bradley Road.

The video shows Lee losing control after striking the curb on the west side of the street, before passing out of frame.

Lee is facing one count of knowingly operating a motor vehicle while suspended, causing death.

He made his initial appearance in court on March 1st, and it was determined he will undergo a competency examination. Lee was wearing a protective vest, and wiped several tears from his eyes during his court appearance.

Three-year-old R'moni Little-Smith died at the hospital as a result of injuries suffered in the crash.

Upon arrival at the scene, Brown Deer police officers found Lee's vehicle tipped onto the driver's side. Three-year-old R'moni Little-Smith, Lee and a four-year-old boy were found in a grassy area near the vehicle.

Police made contact with Lee, who told officers he was driving the vehicle prior to the crash, and the two children were in the backseat -- not wearing seat belts, according to the complaint.

Lee told police the vehicle struck the curb and flipped over. He said he saw the two children thrown from the vehicle.

The complaint indicates Lee made "various statements" about using a cell phone while driving.

The chaplain for the Brown Deer Police Department happened to witness the crash. According to the complaint, he stated that Lee's vehicle was traveling at approximately 80 miles-per-hour and "driving erratically" prior to the crash.

Another witness estimated Lee's vehicle was traveling at 80-90 miles-per-hour prior to the crash.

Police were able to obtain surveillance video from an automotive shop nearby -- which showed Lee's vehicle traveling on Sherman Boulevard at a high rate of speed. The video showed Lee's vehicle lose control as it passed through the intersection at Bradley Road. The vehicle then struck the curb on the west side of Sherman.

The complaint indicates while Lee was being transported to the hospital, officials noted a strong odor of alcohol coming from Lee's breath. According to the complaint, Lee told officials he had smoked marijuana two to three hours prior to the crash.

Lee told investigators his driver's license was suspended, the complaint says.

A blood sample was taken from Lee and sent to the Wisconsin Crime Laboratory for analysis, and he was arrested.

According to the complaint, when Lee was taken into custody, officials found a receipt on his person, indicating the vehicle Lee was driving had been purchased on the date of the crash -- February 25th, by Lee's girlfriend and the mother of the three-year-old and four-year-old children who were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. The receipt had a message on it, reading: "Warning! This vehicle cannot be legally operated on Wisconsin highways and may not be safe."

One day after the crash, Lee was interviewed by investigators. According to the complaint, Lee said he had consumed "half a bottle of liquor" and "two beers" on February 25th, and he had also smoked marijuana at various points during the day.

Lee indicated his girlfriend had purchased the vehicle on Thursday morning. Lee said he suspected a tie rod needed to be fixed because his girlfriend had mentioned that at high speeds, the steering wheel started to shake.

Brown Deer police say in general terms, there's nothing illegal about the sale of a vehicle that is in need of repairs.

A spokesman for the Brown Deer Police Department said there is generally an expectation on the part of the buyer to tow the vehicle and get it fixed before driving it.

The complaint says Lee told officials he picked up the two children from daycare around 8:30 p.m., and said the children were not wearing seat belts, nor where they secured in child safety seats.

Lee said he was on the way to pick up his girlfriend, the children's mother, when the crash happened.

Lee estimated he was driving at approximately 45 miles-per-hour.

Lee said the car started to slide, and struck a curb on Sherman. Lee said after the car rolled, he crawled out through the sunroof.

According to the complaint, Lee said he "knew (Little-Smith) was dead" after the crash, and he said he "should have been more of an adult and put their seat belts on."

This is the fourth fatal crash to occur in February in Brown Deer.

On February 5th, a crash involving three vehicles and a wrong-way driver happened near Green Bay Road and Deerwood Drive. The wrong-way driver died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash on February 11th. He was identified as 59-year-old Charles Washington of Milwaukee.

SHEBOYGAN -- A teenager was killed in a crash in Sheboygan County when his vehicle went off the road and struck a tree. Students who went to class with the 16-year-old boy at Sheboygan South High School are mourning the loss, while trying to figure out what went so horribly wrong prior to the crash.

"The energy is a lot lower, and a lot less talking," Jacob Gornall said of the environment inside Sheboygan South High School after the death of 16-year-old Sean Zempel.

Sheboygan County Sheriff's officials say on Tuesday afternoon, March 1st, around 5:30 p.m., Zempel was driving east on Stahl Road, west of Frontage Road, in the Town of Wilson.

A preliminary investigation has revealed Zempel lost control of his vehicle after crossing railroad tracks before striking the tree.Sheboygan County crash site

"Everyone's kinda sharing the grief. Like, even if you didn't know him, it's there," Gornall said.

When deputies arrived, they found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

"I heard that he had just gotten his license that morning," Gornall said.

Gornall said there are more questions than answers after the crash.

"There's not a lot information about what happened, and how he died," Gornall said.

In a statement, the principal of Sheboygan South High School said counseling and support services are being provided for students and faculty as needed.

"These kinds of things happen. Things will get back to normal, eventually," Gornall said.

Zempel's visitation and memorial service are scheduled for Saturday afternoon, March 5th at Sheboygan's First United Lutheran church.

WASHINGTON COUNTY — Washington County Sheriff’s officials say one person was killed and a second person was hurt in a crash involving three vehicles that happened on Highway 33, east of Highway WW in the Town of Addison in Washington County.

It happened on Sunday, March 6th around 3:15 p.m.

Sheriff’s officials say one person was pronounced dead at the scene. That person was trapped in their vehicle and had to be extricated.

A second person was hurt, but that person wasn’t trapped — suffering non-life threatening injuries.

A third vehicle was involved in this crash but two occupants of that vehicle were not hurt.

The Allenton Fire and Rescue Department assisted with extrication and patient assessments at the scene.

An initial investigation has revealed an eastbound vehicle operated left of the center line — resulting in a head-on crash with a westbound vehicle.

After striking the westbound vehicle, the eastbound vehicle continued traveling east and made minor contact with a second westbound vehicle.

The driver of the first westbound vehicle that was struck was killed.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle suffered a non-life threatening injury.

Sheriff’s officials say alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in this crash.

Highway 33 was closed to traffic for four-and-a-half hours as a result of this crash.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is assisting with the investigation.

Sheriff’s officials say this is Washington County’s third traffic fatality in 2016.

RACINE COUNTY — A Racine man is now facing a homicide charge in connection with a crash that happened on Monday, March 7th in Mount Pleasant. This, after the man’s passenger died as a result of his injuries.

The crash happened at the intersection of State Highway 20/Washington Avenue and 90th Street.

Christopher Hetchler

Christopher Hetchler

Christopher Hetchler’s passenger died on Friday morning, March 11th.

Hetchler is now facing the following charges:

  • Homicide by vehicle — use of controlled substance
  • Operating with a detectable amount of restricted controlled substance in blood, causing injury
  • Possession of THC
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

The criminal complaint indicates a white Ford truck failed to yield to a Dodge truck — and the Ford truck made a left turn directly in the path of the Dodge truck.

The Dodge struck the Ford’s passenger side and both vehicles began to spin.

A Mount Pleasant police officer witnessed the crash — and raced to render aid.

The driver of the Dodge told the officer he was OK.

The Ford sustained heavy damage. The complaint indicates the Ford’s driver was observed “sadly apologizing” to the passenger, who didn’t appear to be breathing. The passenger was slumped over, motionless, and bleeding from his head.

The passenger side door of the Ford was crushed and caved in — trapping the passenger inside. Special equipment was needed to free him.

When the Ford’s driver, Hetchler, exited the vehicle, the complaint indicates the officer could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Additionally, the officer observed in the center console at least two baggies of marijuana and a glass pipe.

Hetchler was taken into custody.

Meanwhile, the door of the Ford had to be cut off in order to get the passenger out. He was taken to the hospital via Flight for Life due to his severe injuries. He died on Friday morning, March 11th.

Hetchler was taken to the hospital for a blood draw.

The complaint indicates when asked about the marijuana and pipe, Hetchler said “yes, it was all mine,” and he admitted to smoking marijuana in the truck approximately 10 minutes prior to the crash.

Police recovered two pipes and three baggies of marijuana from Hetchler’s vehicle — with the marijuana weighing nine grams.

Additionally, the complaint indicates a prescription pill bottle for amphetamine and dextroamphetamine prescribed to Hetchler was located in the vehicle with several capsules, some of which had been broken open.

WASHINGTON COUNTY -- Homicide charges have been filed against a Hartford man, accused of driving drunk and killing his wife on Valentine's Day in the Town of Erin in Washington County.

Richard Pafford

Richard Pafford

39-year-old Richard Pafford faces one count of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and one count of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle with a prohibited alcohol concentration for the death of Renee Pafford.

According to the criminal complaint, Washington County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to Donegal Road, west of County Highway K around 2:00 a.m. on February 14th, 2016 for a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a tree.

Renee Pafford was found in the passenger seat, showing no signs of life. Officials with the Washington County Medical Examiner's Office responded to the scene, and she was pronounced dead as a result of multiple injuries suffered in the crash.

Richard Pafford was in the driver's seat. He was extricated from the vehicle, and taken to the hospital via Flight for Life.

An investigation revealed that the vehicle driven by Richard Pafford was headed westbound on Donegal Road in a 35 mph zone, when it appeared that the vehicle went off the road to the right in the vicinity of a sharp left curve, traveling through a snow-covered ditch and striking a tree head-on, causing severe damage to the vehicle.

While it was bitterly cold, there were no other weather-related factors leading to this crash, according to the complaint.

There were no skid marks or tire impressions to suggest there was any effort to avoid striking the tree.

An investigation by the Washington County Sheriff's Office's Crash Reconstruction Unit determined an "impact speed" for the vehicle Richard Pafford was driving to be about 47 mph. The complaint indicates the investigation determined that Pafford apparently failed to recognize and negotiate a curve in the roadway.

Officials responded to the hospital, and the complaint indicates an odor of intoxicants was noted emanating from Richard Pafford. A search warrant was secured in order for officials to obtain a blood sample from him. The sample was sent to the Wisconsin Crime Lab for analysis. That analysis revealed the presence of .169 grams of ethanol in 100 milliliters of Pafford's blood.

The complaint indicates officials spoke with a witness to the crash, who indicated that on the evening of February 13th into the morning of February 14th, he and his girlfriend had attended a birthday party at the "Ox & Cats Bar & Grill" in Hartland, and that he observed Richard and Renee Pafford, whom he said he knows, arrive at the bar around 8:00 p.m.

The witness said there were pitchers of beer available for anyone to consume at the bar.

Eventually, the witness and his girlfriend left the bar, and traveled to the "Erin Inn Tavern" on Donegal Road in the Town of Erin. The witness said he saw Richard and Renee Pafford arrive after him.

According to the complaint, the witness told investigators he observed Richard Pafford with beer at the bar.

The witness estimated he left the "Erin Inn Tavern" about 15 minutes after Richard and Renee Pafford, and soon came upon the crash scene.

He then called 911.

"It's an incredibly sad set of circumstances," Jonathan LaVoy, Pafford's attorney said. "He's absolutely devastated.  He's now the single father of a 14-year-old daughter and he's just doing his best to be there for his daughter. He was involved in a very happy marriage for many years.  It was just a tremendous tragedy."

LaVoy says Pafford suffered serious injuries in the crash, and can only get around using a wheelchair or a walker.

If convicted, he faces 50 years behind bars.

MILWAUKEE COUNTY — 24-year-old Cashay Henderson of Milwaukee has been sentenced to prison in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that happened in October of 2015.

Cashay Henderson

Cashay Henderson

Henderson in February pleaded guilty to a felony charge of hit-and-run involving death.

In court on Thursday, March 24th, Henderson was sentenced to serve 30 months in prison and 36 months extended supervision with credit for 157 days served.

A restitution hearing has been scheduled for May 24th.

38-year-old Temujin Ghangis-Khon Kibo-Gue was killed in the crash that happened just before 4 a.m. on Sunday, October 11th, 2015.

Temujin Ghangis-Khon Kibo-Gue

Temujin Ghangis-Khon Kibo-Gue

On that morning, the complaint indicates two Milwaukee police officers were flagged down near 5th and North for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Kibo-Gue was found lying in the street — gasping for breath and unconscious.

CPR was administered, and witnesses were interviewed.

One witness indicated she had seen a white Nissan Maxima hit Kibo-Gue — and said the man was then dragged by the vehicle. Eventually, this witness said the vehicle turned north at 5th and North — fleeing the scene.

Another witness told officers he saw a woman trying to move a man who was lying in the road. The witness said the woman walked away, and a few minutes later, a vehicle headed eastbound on W. North Avenue struck the man, and then continued heading eastbound, with the man’s body under the car. This witness was also able to give police a description of the striking vehicle: a white Nissan Maxima.

One woman told investigators she was driving eastbound on North Ave. when she saw a man lying in the street with two men standing around him. She stopped and got out to try to help the man get up and out of the street. The woman said the man was too heavy, so she headed back to her vehicle to get a towel to try to prop the man’s head up. That’s when she saw the man get hit by a white, four-door sedan.

Kibo-Gue was found with severe injuries to the left side of his face and the back of his head. MFD personnel stated that due to the traumatic injury suffered by the man, they wouldn’t attempt to resuscitate him, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy determined Kibo-Gue died as a result of blunt force injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle.

On October 13th, two days after the crash, the complaint indicates police got a phone call from a person who wished to remain anonymous. This person stated she had overheard a conversation during which a “Warren Henderson” was named as the driver of the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run incident. The caller said Henderson is a transgender male, who dresses as a female and goes by the name “Cashay.”

Investigators learned a “Cashay Henderson” received a traffic citation back in May — and at that time, Henderson was stopped while driving a white Nissan Maxima.

On October 16th, five days after the crash, police received a phone call from Henderson — who said: “I did not see that man. I don’t even know what he was lying in the street for. I was on my way home from my client’s. I did not see that man.”

When asked why she didn’t remain on scene, Henderson told police: “Because I don’t have no license.”

Henderson was interviewed at the Milwaukee Police Administration Building, and according to the complaint, investigators learned that on October 11th, Henderson woke up around 2:30 a.m. to drive to her client’s home near 18th and North. She was headed home, driving eastbound on W. North Avenue when she saw several people running from the street to the sidewalk, and she then saw a man lying in the street.

Henderson said she tried to stop, but it was “too late,” and she was unable to avoid hitting the man.

She indicated she left the scene because she doesn’t have a license — and when she got home, she realized the man she hit had died, according to the complaint.

Henderson said she found someone to drive her back to the scene, and when she got there, she saw that the man’s body was still there, and realized he was dead. That’s when Henderson says she “lost it.”

According to the complaint, several hours later, Henderson drove from Milwaukee to Columbus, Ohio — staying there for several days before driving to Houston, Texas, Chicago, and then back to Milwaukee on October 19th.

Officials say Henderson was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of this incident.

She indicated she wants the victim’s family to know she’s sorry.

WASHINGTON COUNTY — A 23-year-old Menomonee Falls man was killed in a crash in the Town of Hartford on Thursday, March 24 — the second fatal crash in this area on this date.

The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. on County Highway K, south of Hall Road in the Town of Hartford.

The crash involved two vehicles.

Upon the arrival of deputies, it was determined that one driver, a 23-year-old Menomonee Falls man was deceased.

The other driver, a 71-year-old Hartford woman suffered a minor injury.

The Menomonee Falls man was the sole occupant of his vehicle. An investigation determined he was headed southbound on County Highway K — leaving the City of Hartford. While negotiating a curve in the roadway south of Hall Road, the operator lost control of the vehicle, crossing the center line, sliding sideways into the northbound lane of travel.

There, the man’s vehicle was struck on the passenger side by a northbound vehicle in a ‘T’ bone manner resulting in the man’s death.

The northbound operator and sole occupant suffered minor injury and was treated and released from the hospital.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit is assisting with the investigation.

Weather and snowy road conditions appear to be contributing factors in the crash.

County Highway K was closed to traffic for approximately 2 ½ hours.

This was Washington County’s third traffic fatality Thursday and sixth traffic fatality in 2016.

Hours before this crash, a 24-year-old Oshkosh woman and her 15-year-old sister were killed in a crash on I-41, just north of County Highway K in the Town of Hartford.

The crash happened around 11:15 a.m.

Washington County Sheriff’s officials say a southbound semi tractor-trailer and a northbound passenger van that crossed over the median began entangled — entering the west ditch of the highway.

Investigators believe the van was traveling too fast for road conditions.

The 61-year-old operator of the semi, from Ontario Canada, was not hurt, however, he was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

UHP states Valle was traveling to Salt Lake City to attend her mother’s funeral.

Police initially stated they believed Valle had been traveling with her mother’s ashes and said troopers had been searching the crash scene to recover them. However, later Saturday, they stated that while the original plan was for Valle to have the ashes, a change of plans meant they were not with her at the time of the crash.

The other two people injured in the crash have not been identified, and it is not clear if they are related to the deceased or if they were also attending the funeral.
