MILWAUKEE (WITI) — Milwaukee police are investigating a fatal crash that happened at 107th and Fond du Lac Ave. late on Friday, April 17th.

Officials say shortly before 10 p.m., a car was traveling southbound on 107th St. at a high rate of speed — weaving in and out of traffic. At one point, it crossed into the northbound lane and collided with another vehicle.

The 29-year-old woman from Milwaukee who was driving the first car died at the scene from her injuries. Officials say she was not wearing her seat belt.

The driver of the car that got struck, a 25-year-old man, suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive. His wife, also 25 years old, suffered bumps and bruises. Their children, both girls, ages 2 1/2 years and 15 months, were not hurt. Both children  were strapped safely in their child seats, their parents were wearing their seat belts.

Speed was a factor in this accident.
